Graviditetsuppdatering - Pregnancy Update

For ya'll who would like to know how the pregnancy is going - I'm doing pretty good most of the time. Today is 31+2, so less than 9 weeks to go. She is very active right now, kicking and moving a lot. I have had some contractions, probably due to the stress of the last month (traveling, moving, studying for nursing test - I'm trying to get my nursing license here), but it's better now. My blood sugar is a bit high, so I'm on a diet right now. On Friday I will have another test to see if it's better or if I need to start taking some medicin. Last week we toured the birthing center at the hospital where I'll deliver, and in a few weeks we'll take some birth classes. As you can see from the pictures of our house, the nursery is ready and we can't wait to meet our daughter! We are praying that the last two months and the delivery would go well.

Johnny Appleseed Festival

One of the biggest events in Fort Wayne every year is the Johnny Appleseed Festival. Yes, Johnny Appleseed was an historic person, and was from Fort Wayne. The festival consists of a farmer's market, crafts, homemade foods, and antiques. Kristina and I went to the farmer's market first:
These green things are Swan Gourds:

Of course, there were TONS of apples, most of which we had never heard of before:

There were also little fruits and vegetables we had never seen:

Bulk spices:

Beeswax...

AND REAL BEES!

We ended up with about 3 lbs. of apples, which didn't last long when we got home…ok, we both ate one about 2 min. after this picture was taken:

If you can't read the caption, it says, "Honey, we'se waitin' fo you-all in beautiful Florida" -73 (1873)

Fresh, camp apple cobbler in dutch ovens:

We couldn't resist. It was really phenomenal:

Norwegian Folk Museum - Church exhibit

The Norwegian Folk Museum did have a "proper" museum building, and one of the great exhibits consisted of church wares, alter pieces, etc. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get onto the floor where the pieces were since a guide wasn't available. Here is one of the unique pieces, which was an alter piece consisting of the text of Luther's Small Catechism:

There was also a small collection of vestments from the 13th-17th c.

Notice how raised the body of Christ is:

Norwegian Folk Museum - Old Stave Church

One of the main draws of the museum is the 12th c. (yes, 12th c.!) stave church. Here is the back of the church:
I recommend clicking on the images two enlarge them so you can see the amazing detail:

Sorry for the not-so-great picture, but this is one of the amazing threshold doors:

Again, take the time to click on the images and see the amazing wall paintings above the alter. The pulpit in the front has the Lord's Prayer carved into it.

We actually have a picture of the two of us together!
