Honeymoon, England VI - Walmer Castle

Walmer Castle, another castle close to Deal. It was built by Henry VIII in 1539-1540 as an artillery fortress to counter the threat of invasion from Catholic France and Spain. The castle itself is nice, but not as impressive as Dover Castle, but it has a pretty nice garden and moat.

Lots of roses

No partridge in a pear tree, but we did see two actual turtle doves!

The moat. Here grew lots of interesting flowers and trees - among them magnolia trees:

Calla lilies

Lavender - so beautiful.
